EARTHQUAKE

The sudden vibration of the crust is due to seismic wave particularly surface wave which were released during EARTHQUAKE.

Two types of Earthquake depending on origin:

Tectonic Earthquake: occurs because of the movement of the plate. When two plates collide, denser plate will subduct and grinds beneath the other plate which causes Earthquake. In transform fault boundaries, as the plate slide past each other it creates friction which causes earthquake.

Volcanic Earthquake: Due to volcanic activities like eruption, earthquake occur.

Types of Seismic wave released during earthquake:

1. Body Wave

• Primary wave
• Secondary wave

2. Surface Wave

• Love wave
• Rayleigh Wave
